We Can Be Anything with an Education.....
This formed the focus for the school council project on attendance within school. We knew that attendance was not as good as it could be and so set to work to try and improve our school attendance.
The school council decided to run a project within school based around Apl.de.Ap’s project that has been running in the Philippines for a number of years. This not only encourages children to be at school but also raises their aspirations to be anything they want to be. This project was to not only raise attendance but to get children to believe they can achieve and become anything they want to in the future.
The whole school learnt the song during assembly and every class got behind the project with devising their own incentives to encourage children to be in school.
......Unfortunately at the end of our first run at the competition, where you could win a class reward, the results were not looking to great and despite all the efforts class attendance had only slightly improved. Undeterred the Councillors voted unanimously to re launch the competition and took an assembly with Mrs Missin and Miss Swanborough to encourage all children to be at school and win the prize of a class reward.
This time around attendance improved within the school and the prize was awarded to Miss Elspass and her class of fabulous frogs who had worked tirelessly to achieve most improved attendance.
Overall for the whole school year attendance finished at 95.6% with the Eagle class winning best attendance and celebrating with cake and fizz (well grape juice!),what an excellent way to end the year.
