Summer Reading Challenge 2020
Every summer, over the 6-week holiday, we encourage the children to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge run by local libraries. With this year being slightly different, there is a digital reading challenge to look forward to instead. e enter an introduction for your news story here.
This year, the annual Summer Reading Challenge (run by The Reading Agency) is a digital challenge. Starting from the 5th June and running throughout the summer, children will be encouraged to keep track of the books they are reading and collect rewards along the way. The theme is ‘Silly Squad’ but the choice of book is entirely up to your child. The children can read books that they have at home or join the library online to discover lots of exciting new children's titles. It is easy to use the library online - you will find the link on the Vivacity at home pages on the internet. If you are already a member of Vivacity’s libraries, you can sign in online; if you are not a member yet, you can visit their website, search 'join the library' and open an account with them.
To sign your child up to the Summer Reading Challenge 2020, please go to the following website and follow the steps under the ‘join the challenge’ heading:
Once you have created a login for your child, encourage them to log on each day to complete new activities, polls, games and more! It is recommended that children read at least six books over the summer for their reading challenge. Once children have read a book, they can add it to their challenge total. They will receive badges and downloads for every book they read and a big prize for completing the challenge!
I hope you will join me in encouraging your child to participate in this fantastic way to keep your child engaged with reading throughout the summer.
Thank you for your continued support.
